Students from "Amman Arab University" Take Part in the initiative of Health Ambassadors Program
The University of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Jordanian Anti-Smoking Society and the King Hussein Cancer Center's Anti-Smoking Office, hosted the launch of the "Health Ambassadors" initiative. The event, attended by students from Amman Arab University’s, aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of smoking, both traditional and electronic. Dr. Bassam Hijjawi, President of the Jordanian Anti-Smoking Society, emphasized the critical role of young people in combating smoking, noting that youth are particularly vulnerable to tobacco industry marketing strategies. He pointed out that 90% of adult smokers began smoking before the age of 18, with many falling prey to tobacco advertising tactics on social media.The initiative's primary goal is to educate university students and the broader community about the health risks of smoking and to empower participants to become “Health Ambassadors.”
