Renewable Energy Engineering Students at "Amman Arab University" (AAU) Implement an Awareness Initiative on Sustainable Energy at Anwar Al-Sabah School
In implementation of the directives of Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Widyan, President of Amman Arab University, and under the follow-up of Dr. Anwar Al-Assaf, Dean of the College of Engineering, and in line with the College’s vision and mission to enhance its community role and strengthen students’ knowledge awareness, students of the Renewable Energy Engineering Department organized an educational activity on sustainable energy at Anwar Al-Sabah School.
The initiative was supervised by the department’s student branch of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE-AAU), in cooperation with the Power and Energy Society (PES-IEEE), and targeted students from grades seven through ten through two interactive sessions delivered by the participating university students.
The sessions introduced school students to the field of energy engineering and presented the objectives and mission of the student chapters. They also included discussions on energy classifications and the differences between conventional and renewable energy sources, while highlighting major renewable energy projects in Jordan. In addition, the activity addressed the concept of sustainability and the role of clean energy in promoting it, as well as the role of modern information technologies—such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity systems—in advancing the energy sector.
The event featured an interactive question-and-answer segment accompanied by incentive prizes, which contributed to increasing students’ enthusiasm and engagement. The educational content was delivered by the following Renewable Energy Engineering students at the university: Reem Khashan, Shahd Al-Shab, Mahfouz Abu Haniyeh, Maria Al-Louzi, Tala Al-Manasrah, Hatem Enaya, and Tareq Al-Abdallat, whose contributions left a positive impact on the school students.
At the conclusion of the event, both the AEE-AAU team and the PES-AAU team extended their sincere thanks to the administration of Anwar Al-Sabah School and to the General Director, Mr. Samer Abu Haniyeh, for their warm reception and support. Special appreciation was also expressed to Engineer Samer Zawaideh, International Activities Officer at the Association of Energy Engineers, for his continuous efforts in supporting initiatives by students of the College of Engineering at Amman Arab University, which played a pivotal role in the success of this event.
Such initiatives align with the University’s direction toward empowering its students and providing a supportive environment that enables them to apply their knowledge in practice, while developing their leadership and community engagement skills through participation in meaningful activities and initiatives.
