Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Amman Arab University (AAU) Showcases Student Talents in Thrilling Play "The Perfect Murder"

Reflecting Amman Arab University’s commitment to nurturing student creativity and honing linguistic and artistic skills, the Department of English Language and Translation, in collaboration with the University’s Center for Languages and Translation, presented the theatrical performance "The Perfect Murder" under the patronage of Professor Mohammad Al-Widyan, University President. Attendees included Dr. Muteb Al-Otaibi, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences; Dr. Wafa Al-Eid, Dean of the Faculty of Educational and Psychological Sciences; Dr. Bilal Abu Qadum, Dean of the Faculty of Sharia; Dr. Mohammad Bin Tarif, Dean of Student Affairs; faculty members; and a wide audience of students in a vibrant, interactive atmosphere.

Supervised by Dr. Abdalaziz Al-Fawareh, Director of the Center for Languages and Translation and faculty member in the Department of English Language and Translation, the play aimed to highlight students’ theatrical talents in English performance while enhancing their translation and creative communication abilities within a critical-thinking and artistic environment. The drama unfolded an intriguing detective story centered on a mysterious murder, blending psychological suspense and dark comedy. Its clever dialogue and non-linear chronology kept the audience engaged until the final moment.

The play explored themes of greed, deception, and the clash between good and evil, alongside implicit messages about justice, accountability, and the consequences of flawed decisions. The script showcased sophisticated character development, allowing participating students to demonstrate exceptional acting and linguistic skills.

The talented cast from the Department of English Language and Translation included: Samar Hussein, Sarah Al-Tamimi, Seebsa Shafaakoj, Hala Odeh, Dana Sammren, Rana Gadim, Lyaan Saleh, Luma Abdelhadi, and Mohammad Essa. Their polished and captivating performance earned admiration from attendees.

Audience members praised the students’ high-caliber performance and the meticulous efforts in directing, scenography, and content, reflecting the quality of academic training at the University.

The event highlighted the vital role of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the Center for Languages and Translation in refining talents and bridging theory with practice.

Concluding the event, Dr. Al-Wedyan expressed pride in this outstanding student achievement, reaffirming the University’s unwavering support for extracurricular activities that broaden students’ horizons and foster well-rounded personalities. He extended gratitude to all faculty, staff, and students involved, commending the spirit of collaboration and creativity that defined every stage of the production.
