College of Sharia at Amman Arab University Visits Community Peace Center to Strengthen Cooperation in Countering Extremism
In line with its commitment to community engagement and cooperation with official institutions working to maintain social security and stability, the College of Sharia at Amman Arab University organized a visit to the Community Peace Center, which operates under the Public Security Directorate's Counter-Extremism Program.
Dr. Bilal Abu Qadum, Dean of the College of Sharia, met with Lieutenant Colonel Omar Al-Khalayleh, Director of the Community Peace Center. The meeting focused on developing joint strategies to combat extremist ideologies through academic and security cooperation. Both parties emphasized the importance of integrating Islamic scholarly perspectives with security expertise to address this critical challenge.
The discussions covered several key areas including student awareness programs, joint research projects, and training workshops. Particular attention was given to developing early detection mechanisms for radicalization trends among youth and creating rehabilitation programs for individuals affected by extremist propaganda.
"The university plays a vital role in shaping moderate Islamic discourse through proper academic guidance," stated Dr. Abu Qadum. "Our partnership with security institutions ensures this discourse aligns with national security priorities."
Lieutenant Colonel Al-Khalayleh highlighted the center's readiness to benefit from the university's academic expertise, noting that "such cooperation bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical security applications in countering extremism."
The meeting concluded with an agreement to form a joint committee that will develop an annual action plan for collaborative activities. These will include specialized training courses for imams and community leaders, as well as awareness campaigns targeting university students. This visit represents part of Amman Arab University's broader strategy to actively contribute to national efforts in maintaining social cohesion and countering violent extremism through academic and community initiatives.
