In its pursuit to foster a culture of innovation and protect researchers' rights, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University, represented by Assistant Professor Dr. Nuseibeh Al-Qatish, participated in a specialized workshop organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in collaboration with the University of Jordan. Titled "Intellectual Property Rights Policies and Regulations in the Scientific Research and Innovation Support Fund: A Model for Promoting IP Practices in Higher Education Institutions," the workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Faleh Al-Sawaaer, Vice President of the University of Jordan for Global Rankings and International Accreditation, and saw broad participation from researchers, innovators, and representatives of various Jordanian public and private universities.
The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of developing national policies to protect intellectual property rights, regulate patent registration, and encourage technology transfer, thereby supporting scientific research and improving Jordan’s ranking in global innovation indices. It covered multiple themes, including presenting the IP regulations for projects funded by the Support Fund, introducing the guidelines for these regulations, and reviewing the Fund’s newly adopted IP policies.
Dr. Al-Qatish’s participation reflects Amman Arab University’s commitment to fostering creativity, entrepreneurship, and empowering faculty members to engage in national initiatives that strengthen IP protection in higher education. The workshop concluded with a set of scientific recommendations aimed at translating these policies into actionable measures to build a robust national innovation ecosystem led by Jordanian universities.
