Amman Arab University Participates in Launch Ceremony of National Program to Enhance Nuclear Security System

Under the patronage of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, President of the Royal Scientific Society and Chair of the Princess Sumaya University for Technology Board of Trustees, Amman Arab University participated in the launch ceremony of the National Program to Enhance the Nuclear Security System. The university was represented by its President, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Widyan, with Dr. Anwar Al-Asaf, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, attending on his behalf.

During the ceremony, HRH Princess Sumaya emphasized the importance of equipping Jordanian youth with advanced technological skills, particularly in strengthening their understanding and culture of nuclear security. She highlighted that such programs embody the core of the Hashemite mission—investing in Jordanian minds—and that empowering youth through knowledge and scientific tools is the true guarantee for overcoming challenges and building a prosperous future for Jordan.

Eng. Ziad Saaida, Chairman of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, affirmed that the program reflects the commission's commitment to establishing a national nuclear security culture based on awareness, knowledge, and quality training. The program includes (10) specialized training courses targeting university students, covering key areas such as radiation and its risks, legislative and regulatory frameworks, radiological protection, and detection and emergency response systems.

The participating university presidents expressed their appreciation for HRH Princess Sumaya's patronage of this pioneering program and her role in empowering the higher education sector while bridging academic research with practical application. The program aims to prepare a generation of aware and qualified Jordanian youth in nuclear security fields, fostering a sustainable national culture that enhances community protection and supports the safe and responsible use of nuclear technology.
